ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER

Lakes Environmental provides Environmental Health, Resource Management, Building and Regulatory Services to the Queenstown-Lakes District Council and provides services to other organisations.
We have an opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health Officer to be part of our busy Environmental Health and Liquor team. Queenstown Lakes District continues to experience a very high level of growth, which generates a wide range of issues and a high volume of work for Environmental Health Officers and Liquor Licensing Inspector. Key issues include sound technical knowledge and the delivery of public and environmental health related duties under the provisions of The Food Act 1981, Health Act 1956 and Resource Management Act 1991, in addition to liquor licensing duties under the Sale of Liquor Act 1989.
The successful applicant is likely to have:
- A tertiary qualification meeting the requirements of Environmental Health Officers Regulations 1993 is essential
- The ability to provide technical advice on a wide range of Environmental Health and Liquor licensing matters
- Sound working knowledge of the Health Act, Food Act, Resource Management Act and Sale of Liquor Act
- Experience in environmental noise monitoring and the assessment and reporting on applications lodged under the Resource Management Act in respect of environmental noise
- A sound working knowledge of food safety, infectious disease investigations and nuisance control
- Excellent written and oral communication skills along with sound problem solving and decision making abilities
- An aptitude for fostering a team working environment
- A positive and friendly attitude when dealing with the general public and a commitment to delivering a high level of customer service
- The ability to work outside normal office hours when required
