Right now, we have a full-time opportunity for an outstanding Environmental Technical Officer to join our Environmental Health Team.

The purpose of this role is to promote and safeguard environmental health in the community by facilitating and influencing proactive compliance, leading, educating, and working with the public and industry locally, regionally and nationally to maintain compliance.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying our food control plan/national programme verifications and enforcing the Food Act 2014 and associated Regulations.
  • Enforcing bylaws - prevention of nuisance from fires and smoke, control of animals, public places, Refuse Collection and Disposal.
  • Advise and submit on Council policy and submissions.
  • Enquiring and reporting on applications under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and presenting evidence in committee or Authority hearings.

About You

We are seeking someone who preferably has a background in the environmental or public health fields. Experience doing investigations into non-compliance with laws and bylaws would be an advantage. A positive attitude and excellent communication skills are also needed.
